In this passage and exchange of words, there are multiple contradictions between Hermes and Calypso. The one that stood out the most to me was in the beginning of the conversation when Calypso got mad and insulted the gods. "Hard-hearted you are, you gods" (5. 130-132). This is very surprising because very few people would insult the gods in this time period and this shows how she contradicts them and the significance of the comment.
